John Jones Roberts (1819-1908) of New Bern, NC, entered the University in 1835, joined the Philanthropic Society, and became an Episcopal minister. In 1842 he married Ann Louisa Hooper (1813-1846); they were the parents of two children. The University granted Roberts an MA degree in 1841 and a DD in 1878.
